Drop a MIDI file into the app to open a chord timeline, then arrange the clips, explore playable fingerings, edit notes on the fretboard, and loop a section. MIDI is processed in your browser. For images and PDFs, allow AI to read the file. If the music can be read, it opens directly on the timeline. If it cannot, you get a clear message and your current timeline stays intact.
After you consent and press Send, your question, recent chat, and a small summary of your key, tuning, and nearby timeline chords are shared for AI assistance. Ask about harmony or possible next chords, preview suggestions, and choose what to add. AI usage limits apply. Mood-based chord suggestions do not share your music.
Paid subscribers browse Tunings ad-free while signed in. Public reference pages may show ads to visitors without a paid subscription. Creating a free account or starting a trial alone does not remove those ads.
Start with a guitar, bass, ukulele, or another included instrument preset. Change individual string pitches, add strings, and adjust the fret count to match your setup. Translation supports fretted instruments with independently played strings; paired courses, such as a mandolin’s, are not supported by the translator yet.
An exact result preserves each sounding pitch and octave. Tunings also offers clearly labelled octave-equivalent fingerings when moving notes by whole octaves gives you another option. If it cannot find a complete playable shape within its search limits, it tells you.
Yes. Hear selected notes together or as an arpeggio in Explore, play your chord timeline at your chosen tempo, and loop a phrase while you work. You can also preview a suggested chord before adding it.
